Live COVID-19 updates: Brazil sees 1,480 more deaths from COVID-19

BEIJING, April 13 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

SAO PAULO -- Brazil registered 1,480 deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the national death toll to 354,617, the country's ministry of health reported on Monday.

The ministry also said that another 35,785 cases of COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the nationwide count to 13,517,808.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 542 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Monday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 110,688.

The daily caseload was down from 587 in the previous day, staying below 600 for two straight days.

ADDIS ABABA -- Ethiopia registered 1,948 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the nationwide tally to 230,944 as of Monday evening, said the country's Ministry of Health.

The ministry said 34 new COVID-19 deaths were reported during the same period, bringing the national death toll to 3,208.

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland on Monday reported one new locally transmitted COVID-19 case in Yunnan Province, the National Health Commission said Tuesday.

The same day also saw 8 new imported cases on the mainland, the commission said in its daily report. Enditem
