Malaysia reports 2,148 new COVID-19 cases, 10 new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 2,148 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing its total tally to 367,977.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that 19 of the new cases are imported and 2,129 are local transmissions.

Ten more deaths from the coronavirus epidemic were reported in the Southeast Asian country, bringing the COVID-19 related death toll to 1,363.

An additional 1,259 recovered patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 349,039 in Malaysia or 94.9 percent of all cases.

Of the 17,575 active cases currently, 212 are being treated in intensive care units and 82 of them are in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
