TEHRAN, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Thursday that the incumbent U.S. administration still follows its predecessor's pressure policy against Iran.

The Joe Biden administration "has only shown a commitment to Trump's maximum pressure," Zarif tweeted on Thursday.

The remarks by Zarif came as the Iranian delegation currently hold meetings with the representatives from Britain, China, France, Russia and Germany in the Austrian capital of Vienna, with lifting sanctions and nuclear issues on the agenda.

Zarif said that after the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear deal in 2018, his country did not abandon diplomacy to settle the nuclear dispute.

"Iran's 'seriousness of purpose' in pursuing diplomacy was tested in the three years since Trump withdrew from the nuclear accord. Iran -- by remaining in the deal -- passed with flying colors," he said.

On Thursday, Iran's senior nuclear negotiator, Abbas Araqchi, told reporters in Vienna that his country would take action if the talks are not constructive, according to Press TV.

Iran has insisted that in order to re-embrace deal-related commitments, Washington should return to the deal first and remove its sanctions against Iran. Enditem
