RAMALLAH -- The European Union on Thursday urged Israel not to obstruct the upcoming Palestinian elections.

ANKARA -- A Turkish soldier was killed in a rocket attack on Turkey's military compound in northern Iraq, the Turkish defense ministry said Thursday.

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi Thursday launched an investigation into an attack on a U.S.-led coalition base at Erbil airport in the semi-autonomous region of Kurdistan in northern Iraq.
Yahia Rasoul, spokesman of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi forces, said in a statement that al-Kadhimi ordered an investigation into the attack in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdish region, stressing that some parties "are trying to create chaos and destabilize security and stability. TEHRAN -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Thursday dismissed concerns about Iran's plan to enrich uranium to 60-percent purity, saying that "we are not looking for a nuclear bomb."
"Some have interpreted that 60 percent is a means to reaching 90 percent (of uranium enrichment). It is not correct. It is wrong to think that we are paving the way for the production of the atomic bomb," Rouhani was quoted by official IRNA news agency as saying. (Iran-Nuke Bomb-Rouhani) Enditem
