TEHRAN -- Iran has started producing uranium enriched at a 60-percent purity, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said on Friday.

"The 60-percent enrichment is currently underway at the Shahid Ahmadi Roshan nuclear facility" in central Iran's Natanz, Ali Akbar Salehi said in an interview with the semi-official Tasnim news agency. (ran-Uranium Enrichment)

JERUSALEM -- Seven cases of a new "double mutant" variant of COVID-19 were detected in Israel, the country's Ministry of Health said on Friday.

This is the B.1.617 variant that was recently identified in India, and now it has been detected for the first time in Israel. (Israel-COVID19)

RABAT -- Morocco on Friday suspended all flights to and from 13 additional European counties to curb the spread of the new COVID-19 variants, the Moroccan National Airport Office (ONDA) said in a statement posted on its website.

DAMASCUS -- Three women and seven children were killed in a car crash on Friday in Syria's northern province of Aleppo, state news agency SANA reported.
