ISTANBUL, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Two Russian warships on Saturday passed through the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul towards the Black Sea, local media reported.

The warships named Alexander Otrakovsky and Kondopoga of the Russian Navy completed their passages and sailed to the Black Sea early in the morning, the NTV broadcaster said.

Several Turkish coast guard boats accompanied the ships during their passages through the 30-km-long Bosphorus Strait, one of the world's busiest waterways that connects the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea.

On Friday, the two warships entered the Marmara Sea from the Aegean Sea, through the Dardanelles strait in the Canakkale province.

Last week, Turkey received a notice that two U.S. warships would pass toward the Black Sea on April 14 and April 15. The journey of the ships was later canceled. Enditem
