NEW DELHI, April 18 (Xinhua) -- India was making efforts to arrange about 6,000 extra beds with oxygen facilities for the COVID-19 patients in Delhi, said Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday.

He said the number of ICU (intensive care unit) beds could be increased "up to a certain limitation."

"Most patients need high-flow oxygen in order to survive. We are arranging nearly 6,000 beds with oxygen facilities in the next two to three days. Such beds would be made available at schools, sports complexes and other spaces with huge covered areas," said Kejriwal in a video message.

Delhi has been one of the worst-affected places in India by the pandemic. Over the past couple of weeks, the national capital city has emerged as a new COVID-19 hotspot, as more than 24,000 new pandemic cases and 167 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours here. Enditem
