SINGAPORE -- Singaporean Minister for Transport Ong Ye Kung said on Monday that ensuring the safety of international trade arteries like the Straits of Malacca and Singapore remains a critical task and requires the collective effort of all stakeholder countries.
While speaking at the 15th Singapore Maritime Week opening ceremony, Ong said that his country's Maritime Port Authority will continue to enhance its Vessel Traffic Information System to ensure safety of navigation, including early detection of collision and grounding risks. SEOUL -- South Korea's foreign currency deposit rose in March as domestic exporters deposited export proceeds in bank accounts, central bank data showed Monday.
Deposit, denominated in foreign currencies, reached 92.7 billion U.S. dollars as of the end of March, up 2.67 billion dollars from a month earlier, according to the Bank of Korea. (S.Korea-Foreign Currency-Deposit)

SKOPJE -- Lawmakers in North Macedonia's parliament on Sunday voted unanimously in favor of the fifth coronavirus-relief package worth 156 million euros (around 187 million U.S. dollars), according to Media Information Agency.

LOS ANGELES -- With about two dozen cargo ships sitting anchored off the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach in Southern California's San Pedro Bay this week, local media said it showed the United States was facing a supply chain crisis.
