Indonesia's Sinabung volcano erupts twice, spewing ash

JAKARTA, April 19 (Xinhua) -- The Sinabung volcano in Indonesia's North Sumatra province erupted twice on Monday with columns of ash up to 2,000 meters from its peak, according to the Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center.

The first eruption occurred at 10:43 a.m. local time, spewing ash up to 2,000 meters from its peak to the southeast for 230 seconds, while the next one happened at 10:47 a.m. local time, belching ash up to 1,000 meters for 136 seconds.

"If there is a rain of ash, we urge people to wear masks when they go outside," the center said on Monday. Enditem
