BUENOS AIRES, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Former Argentina international midfielder Enzo Perez has extended his contract with River Plate until beyond his 37th birthday, the Buenos Aires club said on Wednesday.
The announcement ends speculation in the Argentine media linking the 35-year-old with a move to Turkish club Trabzonspor.
"At midday today, Enzo Perez met with [River Plate president] Rodolfio D'Onofrio ... and signed an extension to his contract until December 2023," River said on Twitter.
Perez has made 126 first-team appearances for River Plate since his 2017 move from Valencia and helped the Argentine club to victory in the 2018 Copa Libertadores final against rivals Boca Juniors.
He has been capped 26 times for Argentina's national team and was a part of the Albiceleste's 2014 and 2018 World Cup squads. Enditem
