German shares open 0.37 pct higher

BERLIN, April 22 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a good start on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 56.07 points, or 0.37 percent, opening at 15,252.04 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was automotive supplier Continental, increasing by 2.08 percent, followed by utility RWE with 1.72 percent and software company SAP with 1.46 percent.

On Thursday, SAP announced that its profit in the first quarter had increased by 70 percent year on year to 1.72 billion euros (2.1 billion U.S. dollars) as the company recorded a "very strong order entry growth" across its applications portfolio.

Shares of Deutsche Bank fell by 0.42 percent, the biggest loser at the start of trading on Thursday.

The yield on German ten-year bonds declined 0.019 percentage point to minus 0.280 percent. The euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.2038 U.S. dollars, increasing by 0.01 percent on Thursday morning. Enditem
