TASHKENT -- A compressed methane gas tank installed in a car has exploded, killing a man and injuring another at a gas station in southern Uzbekistan's Qashqadaryo Region, the Uzbek Emergency Ministry said Thursday.

The incident occurred as the car was being refueled, and the injured man, an employee of the station, was hospitalized immediately, the ministry said. (Uzbekistan-Car Blast)

GHAZNI, Afghanistan -- A district police chief was killed during a fighting with Taliban militants in Afghanistan's eastern province of Ghazni Wednesday night, a local government spokesman confirmed on Thursday.

ULAN BATOR -- A boat capsized in a river in the northern Mongolian province of Khuvsgul, killing seven people, including two children, the country's National Emergency Management Agency said Thursday.

NEW DELHI -- India's national carrier, Air India, has announced that all its scheduled flights between India and Britain from April 24 to 30 had been cancelled in the wake of the recent restrictions announced by Britain, officials said Thursday.
