BEIJING, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Piano Concerto No. 1 by Pyotr Tchaikovsky's will replace Russia's national anthem at this summer's Tokyo Olympics and the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games according to the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) on Thursday.

A statement released by the ROC said that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had notified the ROC that a fragment from Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 had been approved.

Athletes from Russia have been banned from taking part in major international events under the Russian flag and with their national anthem until December 2022 after a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) last year.

Last month, the CAS denied Russia's song Katyusha as a replacement for the national anthem at the Tokyo Olympics and the Beijing 2022 Olympics during the sanctioned period. Enditem
