BERLIN -- German stocks were off to a shaky start on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index losing 52.76 points, or 0.34 percent, opening at 15,267.76 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was utility E.ON, up 1.15 percent, followed by carmaker Daimler with 0.94 percent and stock exchange operator Deutsche Boerse with 0.51 percent.

SEOUL -- South Korea's foreign currency trading logged a double-digit increase in the first quarter owing to an export recovery and a stock investment boom, central bank data showed Friday.

The daily average transaction of foreign currencies came in at 60.94 billion U.S. dollars in the January-March quarter, up 20.7 percent from the previous quarter, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

HOUSTON -- American Airlines Group Inc. (AAL) on Thursday reported a net loss of 1.3 billion U.S. dollars in the first quarter of 2021.

In its first-quarter 2021 financial results report, the company announced its Q1 revenue of 4.0 billion dollars, down 53 percent year over year on a 39 percent year-over-year reduction in total available seat miles (ASMs).

WASHINGTON -- The evidence so far suggests that supply chains haven't adjusted significantly because of the COVID-19 pandemic, an International Monetary Fund (IMF) official has said, while noting that it's a little bit early to tell the exact impact.

"To be honest, so far the evidence that we have seen, the actual numbers that we see do not say that supply chains have adjusted significantly because of the pandemic," Helge Berger, IMF's China mission chief and assistant director in the Asia and Pacific Department, told Xinhua recently. Enditem
