BUDAPEST -- The Communist Party of China (CPC)'s leadership and its upholding of socialism with Chinese characteristics are key to China's success, former Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Medgyessy said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua recently.

CANBERRA -- Australia's Trade Minister Dan Tehan has hailed a progress in trade negotiations with Britain.

"The UK and Australia have today (Friday) reached consensus on the vast majority of elements of a comprehensive free trade agreement," he said in a joint statement with Truss.

"Both countries are confident that the remaining issues will be resolved, and will now enter a sprint to agree the outstanding details with the aim of reaching agreement in principle by June."

GHAZNI, Afghanistan -- Five civilians were killed and two others were injured following a roadside bomb explosion on the outskirts of Ghazni city, capital of Afghanistan's eastern Ghazni province on Saturday, local police confirmed.

"The explosion occurred when a minibus the victims were driving touched off an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Shahliz village roughly at 8:30 a.m. local time," the provincial police department said in a statement.

NAIROBI -- Kenya will not ease the current containment measures prematurely, said Mutahi Kagwe, cabinet secretary of the Ministry of Health on Friday.

"The results of the measures are encouraging. In that period, the positivity rate has gone down from about 20 percent to about 16 percent, the number of patients relying on oxygen has dropped, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) occupancy rate is slowly decreasing, and the fatality rate has also come down," Kagwe said in a statement released in Nairobi.
