TEHRAN, April 27 (Xinhua) -- Iran and other remaining parties to the Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), decided on Tuesday to accelerate the talks aimed at reviving the 2015 agreement, official IRNA news agency reported.

The report came after Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and negotiators from Britain, China, France, Russia and Germany held their latest meeting within the framework of the JCPOA Joint Commission in the Austrian capital of Vienna.

They also decided to form a working group to discuss practical steps for the removal of the U.S. sanctions against Iran and its return to the deal, IRNA said.

Araqchi said earlier that Iran would not allow talks of attrition.

Iranian leaders have noted that Tehran will re-embrace its suspended obligations under the JCPOA only after Washington lifts its sanctions.

According to the 2015 nuclear agreement, Iran agreed to roll back parts of its nuclear program in exchange for decreased economic sanctions.

Iran gradually stopped implementing parts of its JCPOA commitments from May 2019, one year after former U.S. President Donald Trump's administration unilaterally withdrew from the agreement and re-imposed sanctions on Iran. Enditem
