German stocks record small gains

BERLIN, April 30 (Xinhua) -- German stocks recorded small gains at the start of trading on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 50.19 points, or 0.33 percent, opening at 15,204.39 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines, increasing by 1.55 percent, followed by housing company Deutsche Wohnen, up 0.71 percent, and Siemens Energy, up 0.64 percent.

On Friday, MTU Aero Engines announced that its revenues in the first quarter of 2021 declined by 22 percent year-on-year to 989 million euros (1.2 billion U.S. dollars). The German aircraft engine manufacturer said it is "confident" to achieve its full year targets for 2021.

Shares of BASF fell by 3.77 percent, making the German chemical giant the biggest loser at the start of Friday's trading.

German gross domestic product in the first quarter declined by 1.7 percent from the previous quarter, the Federal Statistical Office said Friday.

The yield on German ten-year bonds declined 0.0025 percentage points to minus 0.1955 percent and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.2122 dollars. Enditem
