BRATISLAVA, May 2 (Xinhua) -- SK Slovan Bratislava could have grabbed a third Fortuna Liga championship title in a row three rounds before the end of the season with a victory over FC Spartak Trnava, but the home team shut Bratislava down with emphasis, winning 3-0 and stretching its winning streak to six on Sunday.

With three more rounds to play in the 2020-21 season of the Slovak football premiership, Bratislava saw its once-massive lead on top of the standings dwindle to 7 points after the surprisingly one-sided loss on the turf of its biggest rival FC Spartak Trnava. The home team decided the outcome of the 160th duel between the two traditional clubs mainly due to two successful penalties, both converted by North Macedonian midfielder Milan Ristovski.

FC DAC 1904 Dunajska Streda's third straight victory means that it will finish the season third at worst which means it secured a spot at least in the newly-established UEFA Europa Conference League with both higher tier competitions still at stake. The team from the south of the country managed to defeat MSK Zilina for the first time this season. Nigerian striker Abdulrahman Taiwo broke the 1-1 tie in the 68th minute after a great individual effort inside the penalty box concluded with a low shot.

AS Trencin's first victory after eight consecutive defeats came thanks to a superb performance from Nigerian striker Abubakar Ghali who managed to get on the scoreboard twice. First, his center pass surprised Zlate Moravce's goalkeeper and ended up in the back of the net early in the second half, and five minutes before the final whistle, he capitalized on a breakaway opportunity.

In the Relegation Group, FC Nitra lost to FK Senica 1-0 and slipped to the bottom of the standings. Considering recent form, Nitra is the hottest candidate for relegation from Fortuna Liga. Second-to-last MFK Zemplin Michalovce left the last place in the standings behind after a surprising 2-1 victory over group leader MFK Ruzomberok. In the evenly matched pack of teams, FK Pohronie edged out SKF Sered 1-0 despite going down to ten men. Enditem
