RIO DE JANEIRO, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Tottenham Hotspur are preparing an offer to sign Corinthians teenager Rodrigo Varanda, according to reports in the Brazilian press.
The English Premier League outfit have already made inquiries about the 18-year-old and are willing to pay to 8.5 million euros (10 million U.S. dollars) to bring him to north London, the Gazeta Esportiva reported on Sunday.
Varanda's current contract expires next January but Corinthians are understood to be negotiating an extension to ensure he doesn't leave on a free transfer.
A versatile attacking player, Varanda has made 10 first-team appearances for the Brazilian Serie A giants since being promoted from their youth academy in January.
Spurs currently have two Brazilians in their first-team squad: midfielder Lucas Moura and forward Carlos Vinicius, who is on loan from Benfica. Enditem
