BEIJING, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally crossed the 20-million mark, reaching 20,282,833 on Tuesday, confirmed the federal health ministry.

As many as 357,229 new cases were registered across the country during the past 24 hours.

Besides, 3,449 deaths since Monday morning took the death toll to 222,408.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand reported one case of COVID-19 in managed isolation and no new cases in the community on Tuesday.

The newly imported case came from Britain and has remained in a managed isolation and quarantine facility in Auckland, according to the Ministry of Health.

BUENOS AIRES -- Argentina on Monday reported 540 new COVID-19 deaths over the past 24 hours, raising the pandemic death toll to 64,792.

Meanwhile, tests detected 15,920 more cases of infection, bringing the country's total caseload to 3,021,179.

JAKARTA -- The Indonesian government has confirmed the detection of three cases of two mutated variants of the coronavirus in the country, health minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has said.

Sadikin said on Monday that the detected mutations were known as the B1617, first detected in India, and B1351, first detected in South Africa. Two cases of the B1617 variant were detected in the national capital Jakarta, while one case of the B1351 variant was detected in Bali Island.

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland on Monday reported 17 new COVID-19 cases, all of which were imported, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Tuesday.

Of all the cases, six were reported in Sichuan, four in Guangdong, three in Shanghai, two in Shandong and one each in Jiangsu and Yunnan.

No new suspected cases and no new deaths related to COVID-19 were reported Monday, the commission said.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 541 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Monday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 124,269.

The daily caseload was up from 488 in the prior day. The daily number of infections hovered in triple figures since Nov. 8 last year due to cluster infections in Seoul and its surrounding Gyeonggi province as well as imported cases.

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazil's COVID-19 death toll reached 408,622 after 983 more deaths were registered in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said on Monday.

Meanwhile, tests detected 24,619 new infections in the same period, taking its nationwide tally to 14,779,529. Enditem
