TRIPOLI, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah met with Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and Foreign Minister Najla al-Mangoush here on Tuesday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.

"During the meeting, the Libyan Foreign Minister stressed the importance of enhancing relations between the two countries and benefiting from the experience of the state of Kuwait to support the Government of National Unity in achieving economic development in various fields," said a statement issued by the Libyan government.

The two sides agreed to activate the joint committee, which has been suspended since 2010, and discussed the return of the Kuwaiti embassy and Kuwait Airways to Libya, al-Mangoush told a press conference after his meeting with Al-Sabah.

For his part, Al-Sabah said the two sides "reviewed the strong, historical and ancient ties between the two brotherly countries and approaches to further developing the relations in many areas."

"I conveyed the appreciation of the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait for the new international consensus on Libya, and the specific plan led by the Libyan brothers to draw their future path to reach the elections at the end of this year," he added.

Al-Sabah also met with President of the Libyan Presidency Council Mohammed Mendi, handing him a written letter from Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to invite him for a visit. Enditem
