JAKARTA, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Eighty-two percent of the total civil construction works for the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Railway (HSR) have been completed as of Wednesday, the railway's operator said.

A statement released by KCIC, a joint venture consortium between Chinese and Indonesian state-owned firms that runs the 142.3-km HSR, also said that the construction of six out of the 13 tunnels on the whole railway has been completed.

KCIC also said the construction of continuous beams and frame piers in several key sections has been completed.

Besides, the construction work of the main subgrade, bridges, tunnels, station buildings, and other projects has been carried out smoothly and orderly.

The HSR construction has entered the stage of transition from the substructure of subgrade, bridge, and tunnel to box girder erection and track laying, according to KCIC.

With a design speed of 350 km per hour, the high-speed railway built with the Chinese technology will cut the journey between Jakarta and Bandung, the capital of West Java province, from more than three hours to around 40 minutes. Enditem
