LONDON, May 7 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.76 percent, or 53.54 points, to close at 7,129.71 points.

Ocado Group, an online grocer, soared 3.95 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Anglo American and Glencore increased by 3.55 percent and 3.35 percent, respectively.

Antofagasta, a copper mining company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.65 percent. BT Group, a British multinational telecommunications holding company, dropped 0.93 percent.
