SANTIAGO, May 7 (Xinhua) -- More than 7 million people are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Chile after receiving both doses as part of the country's mass inoculation campaign, the Ministry of Health said on Friday.

Chilean Health Minister Enrique Paris said in a statement that 7,067,635 people have received both doses while 8,454,068 others have got their first jab.

Of the target population of 15,200,840, 55.6 percent have received their first jab and 46.5 percent their second, Paris said.

As of Friday, Chile had reported 1,235,778 COVID-19 infections with 27,004 deaths. Enditem
