KABUL, May 8 (Xinhua) -- At least 25 people were wounded after three consecutive explosions rocked outside a school in western part of Kabul, capital of Afghanistan on Saturday, according to officials and eye witnesses.

"The explosions occurred near Sayyed-ul-Shuhada School in Etifaq township, Police District 13 roughly at 4:30 p.m. local time. Details will be shared with media soon," Tarqi Arian, spokesman of Interior Ministry, told Xinhua, citing initial information by Kabul police.

"Our colleagues from Kabul Ambulance reported that they transported 25 wounded from today's explosions to the nearest hospitals," spokesman of Ministry of Public Health, Dastagir Nazary, told reporters via a test message.

"I heard heavy explosions this evening and I rushed to the main road to look for my family members. I found blasts near a school sent a column of thick smoke into the sky and triggered panic at the time when students were leaving the school building," witness Mohammad Jafar told Xinhua.

The whole place has now been sealed off after police and ambulances arrived at the site, he said.

Several passing-by people and students were affected by the shrapnel and force of the explosions, he said.

There has been discrepancy reports about the casualties. Further details about the incident are still forthcoming. A police officer from capital police told Xinhua that 13 people were killed and 35 wounded and the toll may change.
