MANAMA -- Bahrain's health authorities on Friday announced a third booster COVID-19 shot for vaccinated individuals.

The National Taskforce for Combating COVID-19 announced that, as part of a new phase of vaccination drive, the third dose will be given after six months to those aged 60 and above, people with chronic health conditions and health care workers. (Bahrain-COVID19-Vaccine)

KHARTOUM -- President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Felix Tshisekedi, also the current chairperson of the African Union, presented a new initiative on Saturday regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue.

The initiative was announced by Tshisekedi during his talks with Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan in Khartoum, capital of Sudan. (Sudan-GERD-Initiative)

ANKARA -- Turkey on Saturday confirmed 18,052 new COVID-19 cases, including 2,178 symptomatic patients, raising the total infections in the country to 5,016,141, according to its health ministry.

The death toll from the virus in Turkey rose by 281 to 42,746, while the total recoveries climbed to 4,691,224 after 28,896 more recovered in the last 24 hours. (Turkey-COVID19)

TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday urged the United States to help revive the 2015 nuclear agreement, officially known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as the crisis was started by Washington with its withdrawal from the nuclear deal three years ago.

"As we try to revive JCPOA in Vienna, it's necessary to remember how it all started. 3 years ago today, a disgraced buffoon violated U.S. obligations," Zarif tweeted, referring to the withdrawal of the previous U.S. government under Donald Trump from the accord. (Iran-US-Nuke Deal)
