NEW DELHI -- The Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) has cleared phase II and III clinical trials of Covaxin COVID-19 vaccine for children from two and 18 years, officials said Thursday.

"The National Regulator of the country, the DCGI, after careful examination, has accepted the recommendation of Subject Expert Committee and accorded permission to conduct the Phase II/III clinical trial of Covaxin (COVID-19 vaccine) in the age group 2 to 18, to its manufacturer Bharat Biotech Ltd on 12.05.2021," reads a statement issued by the federal health ministry. SEOUL -- South Korea's state-run think tank on Thursday raised its 2021 growth outlook for the economy to 3.8 percent to reflect the recently-announced positive economic indicators.

BANGKOK -- Thailand has reported the highest daily count of COVID-19 new cases Thursday following new prison clusters, according to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

SYDNEY -- A mouse plague tearing through the rural heartland of the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) has led to its state government vowing to spend 50 million Australian dollars (about 38.65 million U.S. dollars) to tackle the scourge.
