TRIPOLI, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of Libyans held Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Martyrs' Square in the center of the capital Tripoli on Thursday.
The Eid al-Fitr prayer is a special prayer that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. It is held by Muslims around the world in the morning of the first day following Ramadan.
The prayer included a preach by an Imam, who called for forgiveness, tolerance and reconciliation in the country.
The preach also called on Libyans to join efforts to rebuild the country, which suffered years of armed conflict and unrest.
Ever since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi's regime in 2011, Libya has been plagued by political instability and insecurity.
The Government of National Unity was recently selected by the UN-sponsored Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), ending years of political division in the country. Enditem
