MOSCOW, May 14 (Xinhua) -- A burst pipeline at the Karamovskoye oil field in north Russia's Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region led to an oil spill Friday, according to the RIA Novosti news agency.
"As a result of a burst in an underground pipeline with a diameter of 219 millimeters, 3,000 cubic meters of oil were spilled," RIA Novosti reported, citing a source in emergency services.
According to the source, the valves on the pipeline have been closed and a reserve branch is used for the transportation of petroleum products.
Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the incident. Enditem
