Laos reports 798 road accidents with 112 killed in April

VIENTIANE, May 15 (Xinhua) -- A total of 112 people were killed in 798 road accidents in Laos during April, according to the latest report from Lao Ministry of Public Security.

According to the report issued by the Traffic Police department under Lao Ministry of Public Security, 1,309 were injured and 1,510 vehicles were damaged in road accidents across the country during April.

The accidents also resulted in an estimated damage of over 11.2 billion Lao kip (some 1.1 million U.S. dollars).

Most road accidents occurred because of drunk driving and excessive speed, according to the report. Enditem
