Live COVID-19 updates: Argentina reports 24,801 new cases of COVID-19

BEIJING, May 24 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

BUENOS AIRES -- Argentina reported 24,801 new COVID-19 cases, taking the national tally to 3,539,484, the Ministry of Health said Sunday.

The ministry said 375 more deaths were logged, bringing the death toll to 74,063.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 538 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Sunday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 136,467.

The daily caseload was down from 585 in the previous day, staying below 600 for two days due to fewer virus tests over the weekend. The daily average caseload for the past week was 597.

SAO PAULO -- Brazil reported on Sunday 860 more deaths from COVID-19, raising the national count to 449,068, the Ministry of Health said.

A total of 35,819 more infections were detected, raising the nationwide tally to 16,083,258, the ministry said.

BOGOTA -- Colombia reported 496 more deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, raising the nationwide death toll to 84,724, the country's ministry of health and social protection said Sunday.

The ministry said 21,669 new infections were reported, bringing the national tally to 3,232,456. Enditem
