TEHRAN -- The spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Monday that significant progress has been made in the ongoing nuclear talks in the Austrian capital of Vienna, but a number of key issues remain to be solved.

"There are no deadlocks in the Vienna talks and we have reached key issues," Saeed Khatibzadeh said in his weekly press conference. (Iran-Nuke Talk-Progress)

CAIRO -- Egypt rejected on Monday the statements of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed that Ethiopia will build a number of dams across the country.

In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said Ahmed's statements reveal once again that Ethiopia is dealing in bad faith with the Nile River and other international rivers that it shares with neighboring countries.

On Sunday, Ahmed announced that Ethiopia will build more than 100 small and medium dams in various states of the country in the coming fiscal year. (Egypt-Ethiopia-Dam)

TEHRAN -- Iran on Monday reported 11,042 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country's total infections to 2,913,136.

The pandemic has so far claimed 80,156 lives in Iran, up by 217 in the past 24 hours, the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education reported.

A total of 2,458,684 people have recovered from the disease or been discharged from hospitals across the country, while 4,160 remain in intensive care units, according to the ministry. (Iran-COVID19)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli archaeologists have discovered a magnificent and rare 2,000-year-old Roman basilica, the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) said on Monday.

The basilica complex, largest of its kind found inside Israel, was unearthed in a national park located at the southwestern city of Ashkelon.

"The basilica was founded by Herod the Great and one historical source suggests that his family came from Ashkelon," the IAA said. (Israel-Archaeology-Basilica)
