TUNIS, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Visiting French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced here on Thursday the launch of a roadmap for cooperation with Tunisia.

Castex made this declaration during a joint press conference with his Tunisian counterpart Hichem Mechichi at the end of the third joint High Council of Cooperation.

The roadmap focuses on structuring partnerships and ambitious programs, as well as intensifying bilateral cooperation, especially in the areas of development and economic recovery.

It also covers supporting investments to create jobs in the future and initiating a process of continuous training for young people to achieve common development.

Saying France is very committed to Tunisia's future development, Castex expressed his country's support for the reforms that the Tunisian authorities are implementing in partnership with national organizations.

"The French administration wishes to strengthen cooperation with Tunisia in the field of digital economy," he added.

He announced the provision of three oxygen production units for medical use to hospitals in the Tunisian provinces of Sfax, Sidi Bouzid and Tataouine, in addition to the supply of medical equipment, masks and respirators worth 3 million euros (3.63 million U.S. dollars) to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Castex also called for enhancing the two countries' security cooperation in combating terrorism.

Leading a high-level delegation, the French prime minister started Wednesday a two-day official visit to Tunisia. Enditem
