MEXICO CITY, June 7 (Xinhua) -- Highly rated Uruguayan central defender Agustin Oliveros has secured a transfer to Necaxa from Club Nacional, the Liga MX side said on Monday.

Oliveros joins compatriot Vicente Poggi as new additions to Necaxa's squad ahead of the Liga MX Apertura season, which begins in July.

"He will be arriving in the coming hours to make himself available to [head coach] Guillermo Vazquez and his assistants," read a statement on Necaxa's official website. No details were given about the contract type or length.

Oliveros made 37 appearances for Club Nacional after joining the Uruguayan club from local rivals Racing Club Montevideo in February last year.

The 22-year-old made his international debut in Uruguay's 2-0 home loss to Brazil in a World Cup qualifier last November.

Necaxa finished last in the 2020-21 Liga MX Clausura tournament, which concluded in May. Enditem
