Malaysia reports 5,671 new COVID-19 cases, 73 new deaths

KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia reported 5,671 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the national total to 639,562, the Health Ministry said Thursday.

Health Ministry Director-General Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a press statement that eight of the new cases are imported and 5,663 are local transmissions.

Another 73 deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 3,684.

Some 7,325 patients have been released after recovery, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 556,030 or 86.9 percent of all cases.

Of the remaining 79,848 active cases, 911 are being held in intensive care and 462 of those are in need of assisted breathing. Enditem
