TASHKENT, June 11 (Xinhua) -- Uzbek law enforcement bodies have prevented 14 men in the central Samarkand region from joining militant groups in the Middle East, the Samarkand regional police department said Friday.
The police report said the 14 men, from a radical group, were discussing plans to join militant terrorist organizations in Syria and other countries in the Middle East on social networks, and were arrested during joint operations of police and security service.
A criminal investigation has been launched against the detainees, the Samarkand police department said without giving other details. Enditem
