HONG KONG -- The wealth management connect in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be launched in the near term, an official of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government said here on Friday.

JAKARTA -- The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors has approved funding of 400 million U.S. dollars to support the Indonesian government's reforms to deepen, increase efficiency and strengthen the financial sector resilience.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia on Friday received another batch of COVID-19 vaccine doses from Chinese firm Sinopharm for use in a private vaccination program.

KABUL -- As many as 111 Taliban militants have been killed during a spate of conflicts over the last 24 hours in conflict-battered Afghan provinces, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Friday.

"Following a series of government forces air-and-ground operations, 111 Taliban fighters have been killed and 79 others wounded in Wardak, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Zabul, Badghis, Faryab, Nimruz, Helmand, Takhar and Badakhshan provinces over the past 24 hours," the ministry said in the short statement. HONG KONG -- The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in Asia-Pacific countries as India reported 91,702 new cases on Friday and the Philippines' total cases topped 1.3 mln, meanwhile Thailand's new infections hit a 10-day low.
