KABUL -- Five civilians were killed by gunmen in the Afghan capital Kabul on Friday night, the capital police confirmed on Saturday.

The five were singled out by gunmen from several vehicles carrying civilians from a wedding party and were kidnapped late on Friday night in Arghand-e-Payyan, an area in suburban Paghman district, west of Kabul, the police said in a statement. (Afghanistan-Gunmen-Kabul)

MANILA -- Six crew members were injured and two others "unaccounted for" when a small cargo ship caught fire while refueling here at a wharf on Saturday morning, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.

In a report, the PCG said the fire broke out around 9 a.m. local time on Saturday when the vessel MV Titan 8 was refueling near a bridge in Manila City. (Philippines-Ship-Fire)

KUNDUZ, Afghanistan -- The Afghan security forces repelled an overnight attack by Taliban on two districts in northern Kunduz province, killing at least 27 militants and injuring 15 others, the provincial police confirmed on Saturday.
