Singapore reports 60 new COVID-19 cases

SINGAPORE, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 60 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total tally in the country to 62,804.

The new infections included 56 locally transmitted cases, of which 42 belonged to the emerging KTV cluster.

Of the new local cases, 17 were linked to previous cases and have already been placed on quarantine, while 34 are linked to previous cases and were detected through surveillance. Five were currently unlinked.

There were four imported cases, who have already been placed on Stay-Home Notice (SHN) or isolated upon arrival in Singapore. Three were detected upon arrival in Singapore, while one developed the illness during SHN or isolation.

A total of 125 cases are currently warded in hospital. Most are well and under observation. There are currently eight cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and one in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU).

As of July 13, Singapore had administered a total of 6,440,735 doses of COVID-19 vaccines under the national vaccination program, covering 4,052,434 individuals. As many as 2,420,824 individuals have been fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, Singapore will tighten border measures for travellers from Myanmar given the worsening pandemic situation there. From 11:59 p.m. of July 15 until further notice, all long-term pass holders and short-term visitors with recent travel history (including transit) to Myanmar within the last 21 days will not be allowed entry into Singapore, or transit through Singapore. This will also apply to all those who had obtained prior approval for entry into Singapore.

With effect from 11:59 p.m. of July 15, all travellers with recent travel history to Myanmar will also be subject to an on-arrival Antigen Rapid Test. Enditem
