German shares record small gains at start of trading on Friday

BERLIN, July 16 (Xinhua) -- German shares recorded small gains at the start of trading on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 53.14 points, or 0.34 percent, opening at 15,682.8 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines, increasing by 1.52 percent, followed by pharmaceutical giant Bayer with 1.39 percent and telecommunications giant Deutsche Telekom, with 0.92 percent.

Shares of Infineon fell by 1.33 percent. The German chipmaker was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Friday.

The yield on German ten-year bonds went down 0.0175 percentage point to minus 0.3475 percent and the euro was trading unchanged at 1.1812 U.S. dollars on Friday morning. Enditem
