LONDON, July 19 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 2.34 percent, or 163.70 points, to close at 6,844.39 points.

Just Eat Takeaway, an online food order and delivery service, soared 3.25 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Pearson and B&M European Value Retail increased by 1.31 percent and 0.50 percent, respectively.

ITV, a British media company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 6.64 percent. Rolls-Royce Holdings, a British-based engineering company, dropped 6.51 percent.
