German shares gain 0.67 pct at start of trading on Tuesday

BERLIN, July 20 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a good start on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 101.6 points, or 0.67 percent, opening at 15,234.8 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was plastic specialist Covestro, increasing by 2.11 percent, followed by reinsurer Munich Re with 2.10 percent and pharmaceutical giant Bayer with 1.89 percent.

Shares of SAP fell by 0.20 percent. The German software company was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Tuesday.

The index of producer prices for industrial products in Germany in June grew by 1.3 percent on the previous month and was even up 8.5 percent year-on-year, recording the highest year-on-year increase since January 1982, the country's Federal Statistical Office announced Tuesday.

The yield on German ten-year bonds declined 0.0115 percentage points to minus 0.3955 percent and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1800 U.S. dollars, decreasing by 0.01 percent on Tuesday morning. Enditem
