German shares gain 0.72 pct at start of trading Thursday

BERLIN, July 22 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a good start on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 110.7 points, or 0.72 percent, opening at 15,533.2 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was technology giant Siemens, increasing by 2.53 percent, followed by carmaker Daimler with 1.93 percent and aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines with 1.71 percent.

Shares of Siemens Energy fell by 0.39 percent. The spin-off of German tech giant Siemens was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Thursday.

The yield on German ten-year bonds declined 0.0115 percentage points to minus 0.4035 percent and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1797 U.S. dollars, decreasing by 0.01 percent on Thursday morning. Enditem
