German shares gain 0.57 pct at start of trading on Friday

BERLIN, July 23 (Xinhua) -- German stocks were off to a good start on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 89.16 points, or 0.57 percent, opening at 15,603.7 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was automotive supplier Continental, increasing by 3.77 percent, followed by aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines with 3.08 percent and carmaker Daimler with 2.79 percent.

Shares of Volkswagen fell by 0.91 percent. The German carmaker was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Friday.

Germany's exports to countries outside the European Union (third countries) in June increased by 3.1 percent on the previous month and were even up 23.7 percent year-on-year, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced on Friday. Overall, German exports to third countries in June amounted to 53.5 billion euros (63 billion U.S. dollars).

The yield on German ten-year bonds grew 0.0035 percentage points to minus 0.4155 percent and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1772 U.S. dollars, increasing by 0.01 percent on Friday morning. Enditem
