German shares record small gains at start of trading

BERLIN, July 29 (Xinhua) -- German shares recorded small gains at the start of trading on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index rising 38.44 points or 0.24 percent, opening at 15,608.8 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines, increasing by 1.63 percent, followed by chipmaker Infineon with 1.30 percent and carmaker Daimler with 1.22 percent.

Shares of HeidelbergCement fell by 1.38 percent. The German building materials company was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Thursday.

Also on Thursday, U.S. investment bank Jefferies left its price target for HeidelbergCement at 113.10 euros (around 134.30 U.S. dollars) and the rating at "Buy." Shares of HeidelbergCement were trading at around 75 euros (around 89 dollars) at the start of trading on Thursday.

The yield on German 10-year bonds declined 0.0085 percentage points to minus 0.4555 percent, and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1843 dollars, down 0.01 percent on Thursday morning. Enditem
