AMMAN, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Amman Public Prosecutor on Thursday decided not to bring a trial to the defendants involved in an incident of a power outage last Saturday at a designated COVID-19 hospital.

The secretariat-general of the Judicial Council said that the decision is based on the forensic medicine report and the report of the technical committee, which confirmed that the power outage had no connection with the death, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The decision still needs to be approved by the attorney general.

Last Sunday, the Jordanian government ordered an investigation into the incident to reveal the causes of the power outage and the death case reported afterward, said Minister of State for Media Affairs Sakher Dudin in a statement.

In March, Jordan's former Health Minister Nathir Obeidat resigned after several COVID-19 patients died following an oxygen outage at a government hospital. Enditem
