TOKYO, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Mete Gazoz of Turkey edged Mauro Nespoli of Italy 6-4 to claim the men's archery individual gold at the Tokyo Olympic Games here on Saturday.
The 22-year-old made 29 points in the decisive set against 26 by Nespoli, men's team winner at London 2012, when the two tied at 4-4.
This is the first gold for Turkey in Tokyo, and Gazoz became the only non-South Korea archer to stand on top of the podium in the sport.
Takaharu Furukawa of Japan beat Tang Chih-Chun of Chinese Taipei 7-3 for the bronze on home soil. Enditem
