BRATISLAVA, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- After exiting the UEFA Champions League qualifiers earlier this week, Slovan Bratislava improved its mood with a 2-0 victory over AS Trencin over the weekend, climbing to the top of the Fortuna Liga standings.

MSK Zilina is the only other Fortuna Liga team with two victories under its belt after a close 1-0 win over FC ViOn Zlate Moravce.

In the fight between two teams that entered the new season on a high note, Slovan struggled to find its way through the visiting defense, but took the upper hand when Trencin midfielder Samuel Lavrincik was sent off in the 55th minute.

Five minutes later, Slovan took the lead with a penalty, before scoring the second and final goal of the game in the 67th minute.

MFK Tatran Liptovsky Mikulas was leading as early as the first minute against DAC 1904 Dunajska Streda after a long-range effort by Dragan Andric caught the home team's goalkeeper off-guard, but the newcomer's hopes of a solid result were dashed in the final moments of the half when Hungarian midfielder Andras Schafer tied the game with another stunner from range.

In the 57th minute, DAC turned the game around when Abdulrahman Taiwo produced a quick turnaround in front of the visiting keeper and scored. In the final moments of the game, DAC's Ghanaian striker Sharani Zuberu sealed the 3-1 win with a breakaway goal.

Elsewhere, FC Spartak Trnava was close to a victory over FK Senica, leading 1-0 in the 88th minute but the home team produced a marvelous comeback.

Elvis Mashike Sukisa converted a penalty, and in the final minute, Czech midfielder Simon Sumbera concluded the 2-1 turnaround for Senica with a goal after a fast break.

SKF Sered and Ruzomberok played out a 2-3 thriller, with every goal coming in the second half. Sered's own goal opened the score in the 49th minute and moments later, the visitors scored a penalty. In the 70th minute, Ruzomberok midfielder Michal Dopater stretched the lead to 3-0 with his first Fortuna Liga goal. Sered tried to mount a comeback but only managed to cut the deficit to 2-3, suffering its second defeat of the new season as a result.

FK Pohronie put the game against MFK Zemplin Michalovce away in the first 17 minutes with two goals. 19-year-old playmaker Ladji sent a long-range rocket into the visitors' goal just nine minutes into the game, and Milos Lacny stretched the lead to 2-0 after some neat work in the box. Enditem
