ZAGREB, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- The Croatian Armed Forces sent a firefighting plane to Turkey on Monday to help put out wildfires in that country.
The humanitarian aid was requested by Turkey, and the decision to dispatch the plane was made by Croatia's Defense Minister Mario Banozic after consultations with President Zoran Milanovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic.
The Canadair CL-515 aircraft of the Croatian Air Force flew to Turkey with two crews consisting of six members of the Armed Forces and four aviation technicians.
The Croatian Ministry of Defense said on Monday that providing humanitarian aid abroad is one of the Croatian Army's biggest tasks.
In recent years, members of the Croatian Army have provided firefighting assistance in many European countries. Enditem
