LONDON, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Thursday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.05 percent, or 3.43 points, to close at 7,120.43 points.

Rolls-Royce Holdings, a British-based engineering company, soared 5.87 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Whitbread and International Consolidated Airlines Group increased by 4.66 percent and 4.35 percent, respectively.

Anglo American, a globally diversified mining business, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.04 percent. Rio Tinto, a mining and metals company, dropped 4.21 percent. BHP Group, a global resources company, fell 3.80 percent. Enditem
